Come Meet Our "Staff":
For the beginners -- Basically these horses are horses that most anyone can ride, handle, etc.  We'll never use the term "kid proof" because they are STILL horses.  However, they are very gentle and even the most novice of riders can handle them.
Image of a Princess ("Princess") is a 1984 registered Appaloosa mare.  She has an extensive resume.  She has been on many trailrides and was also a therapeutic riding horse for a handi-capped riding program.  She is our babysitter.  She has been with us since 1995.
Freckles Miss Garvy ("Missy") is a 1984 registered AQHA (quarter horse) mare.  She has only been with us since the summer of 2006, but we have known her for many years.  She came to us a little underweight, but she has steadily gained it back.  Missy is western pleasure trained and has been on many trailrides.
Ladies Darlin ("Darlin") is a 1986 registered Tennessee Walking Horse mare.  She has been with us since 2000.  She was very underweight when we got her and has recovered nicely.  She has an old injury that causes periodic lameness, so she's rarely ridden.  However, she loves to be groomed and is a very good listener.
For the intermediate rider - these horses have a little more "go" to them.  They are safe.  However, they require a little more advanced knowledge from their rider.
Say hello to Ernie, our resident mule.  Ernie is a 1996 gaited, appaloosa mule.  He has been with us since 2000.  He is extremely sweet and will stand for hours if you'll feed him carrots.  He is fairly easy to ride.  He requires an intermediate rider because he is so strong.  He's lots of fun though and will outpace any horse on the trail!
Hello Genius (Genius) is a 1996 Tennessee Walking Horse gelding.  He has been with us since 1999.  Said to be the smoothest thing most people will ever ride, Genius has a lot of get up and go.  He will do almost anything you ask him to do.  However, because he moves quickly and is very tall, he will require an intermediate rider.  Genius is lots of fun at playdates and loves to hang out with "his people."

Our advanced horses - These horses are still very well trained.  However, they will require a more advanced rider.
Cisco is a 1990 gaited Appaloosa.  We call him "the dude with the 'tude".  He fox trots when he gaits and he is so much fun.  He is very sensitive in his mouth though and requires a rider with a very light hand.  Cisco is a little guy, but can sometimes be intimidating to a novice rider.
Cody has been with us since the summer of 2006, but he has fit right in.  He is a 1992 quarter horse gelding who is trained to "play with cows."  He started out as an advanced level horse, but as we experimented, we found him to work with all levels of riders.  Cody is very tall and is very well behaved, but because of his height can be intimidating.
